When Combat Syndrome is a Mental Illness

On Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 9:11 PM, John Allen Muhammad was put to death by lethal injection for the 2002 sniper killings in DC.

Muhammad had been in custody since October 24, 2002, when Muhammad and an accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, 17, were arrested at a Maryland rest stop. Police claimed that the car had holes to accommodate an incognito sniper with a rifle.

Muhammad had one of the worst possible prosecutors – a Republican governor-hopeful, Jerry W. Kilgore, who was assigned to the case by U.S. Attorney General, John Ashcroft. Muhammad’s crime was categorized as an act of terrorism, and no defense abutting that categorization would exist throughout his trial.

J. Wyndal Gordon, Esq., one of John Allen Muhammad’s attorneys, said that in his final hours, Muhammad “will die with dignity – dignity to the point of defiance.” How typical is that word “defiance” to describe any behavior or action not in keeping with a white man’s demands on a black man? Any black American over 40 can tell you the answer. That attorney Gordon chose that word, indicates that he is nothing more than a slave to white men, and wanted to bow to them to indicate his warped sense of “solidarity” with them. In other words, he wants to keep making money. Business as usual.

It was reported that Muhammad had been in the United States Military and trained with rifles. His military history had been largely overlooked and underreported for clues. How much of John Allen Muhammad’s military perception affected his mentality, mental state and judgment in the years after discharge from the military? This was a man that served in the United States Military from 1978 to 1994: a total of 16 years. Muhammad’s discharge from the service is common: many black men are not permitted to go any higher or further than the status of Sergeant in the military, and are therefore discharged.

How can 16 years of induced combat mentality affect a person? Nobody involved in the investigation and trial of John Allen Muhammad was interested in finding out. Was Lee Boyd Malvo, a native of Jamaica, trained by Muhammad in the manner of a new military recruit? That question was not explored at any time during Muhammad’s trial. Malvo was just referred to as an “accomplice” and is now serving a life sentence, without parole.

John Allen Muhammad was born John Allen Williams on December 31, 1960, changing his last name to Muhammad after joining the Nation of Islam in 1987. His ex-wife Mildred Muhammad continues to be associated with the Nation of Islam. After Muhammad’s arrest, Louis Farrakhan publicly disassociated himself from Muhammad, instead of conducting his own investigation to determine how much, if any, military combat mentality dysfunction, if at all, contributed to the sniper murders of the 13 victims.

During his trial, Mildred Muhammad claimed that her ex-husband’s purpose for sniper killing was a cover for his real intention of killing her and taking his three children from her. Although the prosecution presented this in court, the silliness and stupidity of such a far-fetched claim was never disputed, but the judge ruled insufficient evidence so that the claim wasn’t admissible in court.

Mildred Muhammad has written a book entitled “Scared Silent”, released October 13, 2009 by publishers Simon and Schuster. The price: $16.54. She has also written a book entitled “A Survivor’s Journey”, which is on sale from her website for $29.95. See http://www.milredmuhammad.com. Being a victim of spousal abuse does not in itself make her an expert on anything. She states on her website that her ex-husband emptied their bank accounts and ran off with their children. She had no job, no money and no home and was living in a shelter for abused women.

From there, she was able to track down John Allen Muhammad and gain full custody of her children. She was never denigrated for being in her circumstances and certainly had help in getting her children back. That situation shows the machinations of a system at work that will usually consider a woman in her circumstances to be an unfit mother, but only if she’s educated, middle-class and rejects the advances of white men, and document it as such, however unfair and backwards that label would be.

Being limited in education and skill as well as class level, having no disparity levelled against her by “the system” fair or unfair, and being classified as a “role model” just because her husband beat her up, shows all the signs of a black woman that got “personally involved” with a white man who could get Simon and Schuster to publish her book. Mildred Muhammad doesn’t have the education or linguistic ability to write a book by herself. Her vocabulary is undoubtedly very limited.

Mildred Muhammad is trying to capitalize on her ex-husband’s demise with a non-profit company called After the Trauma, and is asking for money on her website. She would have done better to file for a sectioning for her ex-husband’s mental illness, so that his mental problems could begin to be identified and possibly treated. He would not be the first person to become severely mentally ill after experiencing combat in a military environment.

If you look on Mildred Muhammad’s website, you will see a long list of speaking engagements and such, all of which are related to her having been a victim of spousal abuse and the perpetrator ending up being the DC sniper. His spousal abuse may have been caused by the mental illness produced by brain neutrons getting distorted when trying to balance civilian thought forms tried by military indoctrination after his discharge from the service. She is shown smiling widely in the pictures. Even if she despised him, her glee is inappropriate. Execution of a human being is always a serious matter. It is not a joyful occasion.

John Allen Muhammad died by lethal injection in Jarratt, Virginia on November 10, 2009 at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Virginia. He was 48 years old. My words are not intended to minimize the gravity of the deaths of the people that were murdered. My words are meant to point out the blatant disparaging treatment that black men will still receive, mostly due to their belligerence and unwillingness to readily bow to the commands of white men. The big question remains as to why John Allen Muhammad just didn’t possess the strength to avoid destroying others and himself as well.

Dr. Conrad Murray may be shopping a publisher for his book

MJ_in_car_after_courtdr_conrad_murrayIt’s been reported in the New York Daily News that Dr. Conrad Murray is looking at a prospective book as a means of getting some quick cash. Although his lawyer, Ed Chernoff, denies the claim, other sources say that Dr. Murray is very distressed with being accused of killing Michael Jackson and being unable to work because he feels that his life is in danger if he were out and about.

Dr. Conrad Murray looks like a pawn that expected not to be caught in a net of his own making. What he did to Michael Jackson I would call a lethal injection. He basically executed him. When a death row inmate gets the lethal injection, it’s done by consecutive injections of various drugs until the body shuts down, or the heart and lungs stop working. I don’t think that Jackson wanted Murray to do all of that to him. You know how doctors are. No matter how much money or how intelligent a patient is, doctors always high-hand their medical advice and will disagree with you when you complain. Doctors believe that they are always right when it comes to what’s best for the patient. Dr. Murray was no different in his dealings with Michael Jackson. There was likely a point in time where Michael Jackson was no longer aware of what Dr. Murray was injecting him with.

There are others that conspired to kill Michael Jackson. Even he didn’t know when or how. Surely he didn’t expect it to come in the form of Dr. Conrad Murray. Dr. Murray is slimey and everything about him reeks of get-over. There should not be a problem that would delay Murray’s arrest in the matter. Obviously, Murray was promised a minimalization of any charges and leniency, as well as a reward for his successful efforts. I would say that Dr. Murray is very lucky that the Jackson family aren’t the type to set around and whoop his ass, regardless of the police and judicial system. He should thank them.

Forget about it, Dr. Murray. No book, alright? And if Murray does do a book, then all of the proceeds should go to Michael Jackson’s children. Every penny. See the story at the New York Times at http://bit.ly/MePCP.
